Inauguration of the project and open-air exhibition

Warsaw is a city that inevitably comes to the mind of anyone who thinks about Poland. It was therefore the natural and obvious place to inaugurate the "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom” project. The Royal Castle is also a symbolic site. After being destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt from the ruins by the efforts of the whole of society. It is a symbol of free and independent Poland, reborn from the ashes like the Phoenix.
On 18 March, in the Great Hall of the Royal Castle, Dr. Karol Nawrocki, President of the Institute of National Remembrance, officially opened the project entitled "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom”. Among the invited guests were ambassadors of countries through which the fate of Poles led them during World War II. It was attended by representatives of cultural institutions, veterans, the military, and uniformed services. The Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki addressed letters to the participants, and Arkady Rzegocki, Head of the Foreign Service, gave a speech. The appearances by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Russia, Krzysztof Krajewski, and Elena Karatkowa, director of the "Dom Polski" National-Cultural Center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, were also broadcast.
The event was also attended by Anna Maria Anders, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino, who took up Honorary Patronage of the project.
The open-air exhibition "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom” is open to visitors in the courtyard of the Royal Castle from 18 March to 28 April 2022.
